My Christmas holiday.
I love Christmas and specially with my family because we start
celebrating Christmas on November 15th when we put and decorate the Christmas
tree, which takes us all the weekend because my dad puts more than 300 lights
and we all put almost 250 ornaments. December is a busy month: we open the Advent
Calendar on the first, we make “hallacas” and a very delicious “pan de jamon”, we
decorate the house, we celebrate my grandpa´s and grandma´s birthdays, we play the
secret friend game and then on the 24th we open all the presents, we
play with sparklers and cebollitas and see how the fireworks light up the
Caracas sky. Usually for New Year we go to an evening mass, and we celebrate
the New Year with confetti, fireworks, food, drinks, and enjoy the music and
dance until early in the morning. Then, to finish our Christmas Holiday, we celebrate
la ‘Paradura del Niño’ in the last week of January, a tradition in western Venezuela
that is celebrated in Los Andes. This tradition takes the little baby Jesus to
the different houses in the town and people receive the blessings for the rest
of the year.
And this is why I love the Christmas Holiday.
